1 Kings 1-22

The first book we studied was 1 Kings. I studied the life of Solomon. At the beginning of his reign he faced many challenges. He was king over a numerous people. He was the second king and would thus establish policies and procedures that would influence the people for generations to come. He was also a young man. Solomon turned to the Lord at this time. 1 Kings 3:6-7 states,        And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great      mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness,          and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great        kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as   it is   this            day.  And now, O   Lord   my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of        David my father: and I   am but   a   little   child: I know not   how   to go out or            come in. The Journey to Humility Intro

As part of my studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho, I have the privilege to take religion classes that delve into the scriptures. This semester I have the incredible opportunity to study the second half of the Old Testament. I am so excited to be able to study this book of scripture. I have read it previously but I feel that this semester will be different. The focus of this class is to seek and find the symbolism that point us to Christ. Every book of scripture is meant to help us to understand the role of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. I look forward to further understanding my relationship to Him. In order to draw nearer to Him, we have been given the assignment to select an attribute of Christ that we would like to develop. We are to study the Old Testament to help us understand this attribute. I made this a matter of prayer and feel that I should study humility. When I hear the word humility, I automatically think of someone who does not have pride. In the past week
